Class Representative
The class representatives are leaders who have their fingers on the pulse of the academic, social and recreational needs of the student body. This position is for anyone seeking to be involved, desiring to contribute, and wanting to participate in decisions that effect their classmates and all of DMS. Responsibilities include representing the student body in discussions with the administration, managing the class budget ($1000), keeping classmates informed about the activities of student government, and working with other members of student government on school-wide projects. The rest of your time is spent planning, arranging, and setting-up student functions and handling individual student concerns. This is a very rewarding position that requires a few hours a week of your time. It is definitely worth the time and energy—check it out!
Specific Responsibilities/Traditions:
Year I:
- Send biweekly emails to classmates, including abbreviated, class-specific SG minutes
- Represent the class at official school functions, ie white coat ceremony
- Breakfast for first set of Year II exams
- Help with post-anatomy class party by providing financial support from class funds and delegating responsibility
- Solicit topics and encourage interest in Spring Career Day
- Help publicize social events such as: Halloween Party, Snowfest, DMS Formal, and Medstock
- Organize pre-boards good-luck event for Year Is
- Contribute to gift for Student Affairs Office
- Contribute to gift for Financial Aid Office
- Organize class phone and birthday lists
- Arrange for sympathy cards and donations
- Arrange for congratulatory gifts for births (ie. fruit baskets)
- "Police" class behavior as needed (ie. Reminders to clean student lounge, refrigerator, etc)
Year II:
- Send biweekly emails to classmates, including abbreviated, class-specific SG minutes
- Represent the class at official school functions
- Acquire Year I schedule and make it available to classmates
- Send class reminders about upcoming Year I quizzes (or delegate to Big Sib coordinator)
- Plan celebration after first anatomy practical
- Help plan book sale
- Help publicize social events such as: Halloween Party, Snowfest, DMS Formal, and Medstock
- Arrange for gift for SBM Office
- Contribute to gift for Student Affairs Office
- Contribute to gift for Financial Aid Office
- Purchase gifts for Lottery Committee Members and flowers to Amanda Bushor
- Organize class phone and birthday lists
- Arrange for sympathy cards and donations
- Arrange for congratulatory gifts for births (ie. fruit baskets)
- "Police" class behavior as needed (ie. Reminders to clean student lounge, refrigerator, etc)
Year III:
- Send biweekly emails to classmates, including abbreviated, class-specific SG minutes
- Represent the class at official school functions
- Help plan book sale
- Organize post-boards celebration for Year II (time frame?)
- Help publicize social events such as: Halloween Party, Snowfest, DMS Formal, and Medstock
- Arrange gift for Amanda Bushor
- Contribute to gift for Student Affairs Office
- Contribute to gift for Financial Aid Office
- Organize class phone and birthday lists
- Arrange for sympathy cards and donations
- Arrange for congratulatory gifts for births (ie. fruit baskets)

Year IV:
- Send biweekly emails to classmates, including abbreviated, class-specific SG minutes
- Represent the class at official school functions
