Food & Dining On Campus Dining Cafe North: The cafe for DMS located in Kellogg. Cafe North features a limited grill, deli, salad bar, yogurt, fresh fruit, breakfast pastries, soup and lunch specials. Hours are from 7:30am- 2:30 pm Monday-Friday. It is rather small, and gets very crowded at lunch time when all the employees of Vail, Remsen, and Gilman take their lunch break. DHMC: The Cafeteria, food here is good as far as cafeterias go. Be sure to mention that you are a student and you'll get a 25% discount, though you can't charge the food to your IDs. Au Bon Pain and Sbarro's Pizza are also on location in the hospital food court. Pat and Tony's is open until 2am, great for late-night snacks and coffee if you're studying at the hospital. The Courtyard Cafe: Known to its patrons as "The Hop." Between Center Theater and Spaulding Auditorium, right across from the all-important Box Office, you'll find the Courtyard Cafe, basically a gentrified grill that serves up some good sandwiches, delicious desserts, frozen yogurt and cappuccino. Although the grill has a tendency to be "too greasy", the outdoor patio is a big draw (as are the spicy fries). Thayer Dining Hall: Thayer Hall, located behind the Collis Center, is Dartmouth's undergraduate dining hall, but is frequented by medical students mainly because there are three places to eat: Food Court (an a la carte cafeteria), Home Plate (for healthier meals), or The Pavilion (a Halal and Sakahara cafeteria). You can charge everything on your ID. Open 11am-3pm and 5pm-1am. Collis Center: The Collis Center features higher quality (but more expensive) food than Thayer's cafeteria, including made-to-order sandwiches, omelets, stir-frys, and smoothies. Collis also has a game room, the Collis Common Ground facility for student events, undergrad and academic offices, and the not to be missed Lone Pine Tavern (open Wed. to Sat. evenings). The Tavern serves a "classic beverage menu of beer, wine and gourmet sodas as well as cappuccino and espresso." In addition, an extensive appetizer and light dinner menu is available with table service. There is entertainment each night, including jazz, comedy, and more varied acts. (DMS students have even been known to perform there on occasion.) You can use your ID at the Tavern. In fact, you can charge absolutely everything at Collis to your DA$H account. Byrne Hall: This is the Tuck School of Business's a la carte cafeteria with many options, including a grill, deli, daily specials, and frozen yogurt. Open Mon. to Fri., 7am-7:30pm. |
