Food & Dining

Off Campus Dining - Moderate

Hanover

The Jewel of India: 27 Lebanon St. Hanover, 643-2217. Very decent, but you really have to insist if you like it hot. They have a hard time believing it. Take-out is reasonably priced and a nice change from Chinese food and pizza.

5 Olde Nugget Alley: Restaurant and one of two bars in Hanover. The food is pub-style with burgers and excellent appetizers. You have a choice of eating in the bar area, which tends to get crowded, or the restaurant which is very comfortable.

Mai Thai: Solid Thai food on Main St. with decent Pad Thai. Service is patchy.

Molly's: Part of the local dynasty with sister restaurants Jesse's and Lui Lui's is always busy, and with good reason. A nice bar overlooking downtown Hanover and a new and pleasant back porch for outdoor meals. The menu ranges from burgers and brick oven pizza to steaks.

Murphy's On The Green: The other bar in Hanover, a favorite post - exam hang out, this Irish pub serves good sandwiches, appetizer's and even full meals along with Guinness.

Panda House: Serves good Chinese food and Scorpion bowls as well as sushi. Quick and cheap lunch specials. They deliver.

Rosey's Cafe: Lunch only Italian panini sandwiches, gourmet coffees and teas, biscotti and other baked goods. Downstairs from Rosey Jeke's

Zin's: A tapas style eatery in the main entry of the Hanover Inn. Interesting creations, relaxed atmosphere and a great bar.

Outside Hanover

Enfield

Riverside Grill, Enfield, NH: Good food, tremendous portions in a building that looks like a hypertrophied gas station.

Lebanon

Monsoon: The owners of Sweet Tomatoes opened this new Asian mix last year. They serve eclectic combinations in a funky atmosphere. The satay and seared tuna are a hit, the Pad Thai is lackluster.

Sweet Tomatoes, Lebanon, NH: Pretty good Italian food with a fun atmosphere. They serve good pasta dishes and flat crust, brick oven-baked pizza with interesting toppings. Be sure to get a chicken full of wine!

West Lebanon

7 Barrel Brewery, West Lebanon: inexpensive pub food, and many varieties of beer brewed on site. Try their sampler of beers.

Benning St. Bar and Grill, West Lebanon: A recent addition to the area, this restaurant serves your favorite bar food. It is located behind Shaw's in the Powerhouse Plaza.

Chili's, West Lebanon: The chain favorite opened in the Kmart plaza last year. No explanation necessary

China Lite, West Lebanon: Decent Chinese food and, as we may have mentioned before, great scorpion bowls.

Dragon Island, West Lebanon: The best Chinese food outside of Hanover, and besides, the goldfish are cute.

Lui Lui's, West Lebanon, NH: Good Italian food with lots of garlic! Also serves brick oven pizza.

Shorty's Mexican Road House, West Lebanon, NH: New England just doesn't do Mexican, but for you forlorn Californians hungry for El Torito, this is the best (read only) Mexican-like food the Upper Valley has to offer.

Tastes of Africa, West Lebanon, NH: Authentic African specialties right in downtown white river. They sometimes have a stand above Panda House in Hanover.
