The Upper Valley Haven

The Haven is a private, community supported organization that operates an 8-family homeless shelter, a food shelf and clothing room which are open to the entire community, and provides educational opportunities for children and adults. The Haven has 9 staff members, but relies very heavily on volunteers to fulfill its mission. Volunteer opportunities fall primarily into two areas: the food shelf (each volunteer works a 3- to 4-hour shift once per week, answering the phone, assisting those utilizing the food shelf, and accepting donations); after school program (tutoring and mentoring school aged children one day per week from 3 to 5 pm). Other volunteer opportunities, either one-time or ongoing, can be arranged in concert with staff.
