Community Service Committee

DMS CARE

CARE (Communities Assisting Relief Efforts) is intended to actively engage medical students in relief efforts across the globe, while simultaneously providing assistance and outreach to their own communities. Medicine is an integral part of CARE by addressing the ethics and logistics of health care following disasters as well as providing direct assistance to health care professionals in disaster areas. Through CARE, students raise funds, supplies and awareness for communities requiring assistance. They also send a group of medical students each year to assist in outreach, relief, and rebuilding. Locally, CARE addresses the needs of its own community in an effort to reflect the skills learned in disaster areas, and recognize that all communities have unmet needs.
