On-Call
While assigned to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, residents share calls with other psychiatry residents and have approximately 30 night and weekend on-call experiences in the Emergency Department of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (two to four nights per month). Residents see up to five cases per on-call experience, of which 10 to 20% involve families, adolescents, and/or children. Residents at the PGY4 level and above take back-up call from home.
At the Philbrook Center, residents take telephone back-up calls for one week approximately every two to three months.
There is no in-house overnight call at any of the training sites.
