Dartmouth Trauma Interventions Research Center
The Dartmouth Trauma Interventions Research Center (DTIRC) is dedicated to developing and disseminating effective treatments for trauma-related disorders, with a special focus on working within community mental health systems and other institutions in New Hampshire. Much of DTIRC's work has concerned adolescents and adults with serious mental illness, who are at particular risk for experiencing traumatic events. DTIRC is closely affiliated with the Psychiatric Research Center.

Research
DTIRC is currently focused on major initiatives in several areas of immediate clinical and public health concern:
- Adaptation and evaluation of posttraumatic interventions for patients in primary medical treatment settings, including general internal medicine.
- Treatment of posttraumatic disorders of adolescents; DTIRC is a member of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and designed the "Project for Adolescent Trauma Treatment," funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
- Adaptation and evaluation of posttraumatic interventions for patients with severe mental illness, including a Stage II randomized clinical trial in New Jersey (first staged at West Central Behavioral Health in Lebanon, NH) providing treatment for PTSD for people with primary psychotic stress disorders.
- Needs assessment for addressing traumatic stress among resettled refugee youth in New Hampshire.
