Overview Currently, the department has 15 primary appointee faculty and 10 additional faculty members with joint appointments. The research strengths of the department include biochemical pharmacology, cancer and carcinogenesis, cell and molecular pharmacology, experimental therapeutics, clinical pharmacology, genetic and molecular toxicology as well as neuropharmacology and molecular cardiology. This research is supported by external grant funding of over $4,700,000 annually in direct costs. An NIH funded training program exists in cancer biology and there is an NIH designated Super Fund Program. The department has recently expanded its graduate program. This graduate program offers a fostering academic environment while rigorously preparing students for an exciting biomedical career. There is a strong funding track-record for each faculty member as well as internal and external funding sources for graduate students. The 2009-2010 student stipend rate is set at $25,500 and there are no teaching assistantship requirements. The overview is also available at Peterson's, a Nelnet company. |
