Key Benefits Offered to Dartmouth Medical School Community-based Faculty
Detailed Resource List for Preceptors
DMS Adjunct Faculty Appointments
The application for an Adjunct faculty appointment is initiated once preceptors have begun precepting a student. These appointments, along with a DND account (see below) allow access to the benefits provided to preceptors through Dartmouth Medical School and the College. If you are interested in becoming a preceptor or have questions about adjunct faculty appointments, please contact OCER. You can access the registration form here. Please send this along with your CV or Medical Staff application to Diane Chamberlain.
Dartmouth Name Directory Account
A Dartmouth Name Directory (DND) is necessary for access to certain Dartmouth College resources (e.g., full text articles online) and is assigned to preceptors once they receive their adjunct appointment. See Computer Support for more information.
Dartmouth College ID Card
The Dartmouth College ID Card can be obtained once preceptors receive their adjunct appointment. This card serves as the library card to check out materials from all Dartmouth College libraries (Note: electronic library resources require a DND account only). The ID card and ID number ensure access to other benefits, listed below.
CME Vouchers for DHMC Sponsored Events
Active non-VA or Dartmouth-Hitchcock affiliated community-based preceptors receive vouchers to offset the costs of most CME courses sponsored by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Contact OCER for more information or to confirm the eligibility of a course.
Additional DHMC Video-Conferences on multiple topics including some Grand Rounds
Library Resources and Support
Numerous library resources and support are available to preceptors who have obtained a DND account and have a computer that is connected to Dartmouth's or DHMC's computer network - by direct connection, by dialing in to the Dartmouth modem pool, or by use of Dartmouth's Virtual Private Network (see Computer Support).
