- George Blike, anesthesiology and ob/gyn, received a 2008 James W. Varnum Quality Health Care Award for his contributions to high-quality patient and family-centered care at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
- Jay Dunlap, genetics, has received the Genetics Society of America 2009 George W. Beadle Award for outstanding contributions to the community of genetics researchers. * Robert Drake, psychiatry and community & family medicine, won the American Psychiatric Foundation's 2008 Alexander Gralnick Award for research in schizophrenia, presented at APA's Institute on Psychiatric Services in Chicago, where he delivered a lecture titled, "The Future of Supported Employment."
- James Gorham, pathology and microbiology, has been named to the new position of associate director of the medical school's MD/PhD program.
- Robert Gougelet, medicine, participated in the NAS Committee on Science, Engineering and Public Policy panel discussion on the role of technology in FEMA's strategic planning.
- Sohail Mirza, orthopaedics, in his capacity as vice-chair, will assume the duties of orthopaedics department chair, effective Jan 1, while James Weinstein takes on new DHMC responsibilities.
- James Weinstein, orthopaedics, has been named vice chair of the DHMC Board of Governors, and will lead an ad hoc bylaws committee on governance and operational changes; he was also named "Outstanding Physician in Practice" at the recent national meeting of DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance for achievements in, and contributions to population-based care.
