- Marc Bertrand, anesthesiology, is director of graduate medical education, effective Nov. 1, succeeding Worth Parker, medicine, who is returning to clinical practice.
- Edward Catherwood, medicine, has agreed to serve as interim chief of cardiology, effective immediately, succeeding Michael Simons who has left Dartmouth.
- David W. Nierenberg, medicine and pharmacology/toxicology has won the 2008 Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award, given to an outstanding medical student educator and presented at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) annual meeting Nov. 1.
- John Wennberg, community & family medicine and medicine, received the 2008 Gustav O. Lienhard Award for Outstanding Achievement in Improving US health care system, presented at the Institute of Medicine annual meeting Oct. 14.
- Michael E. Zegans, surgery and microbiology & immunology, has won an American Academy of Ophthalmology 2008 Achievement Award for contributions made to the Academy, its scientific and educational programs and to ophthalmology.
- Dartmouth's cystic fibrosis (CF) team led by Worth Parker and Gerry O'Connor, received the first annual Quality Care Award: Recognizing Outstanding Quality Improvement Processes and Accomplishments, by the CF Foundation, presented at the annual center and program directors' meeting held in conjunction with the North American CF Conference Oct. 23-25.
