- Leslie Henderson, physiology and biochemistry, has been named senior associate dean for academic affairs, as of Sept. 1, succeeding William Hickey, pathology.
- Mark A. Israel, pediatrics and genetics, has been named chair of the FAES (Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences) finance committee.
- C. Everett Koop, surgery, has been appointed special advisor to the Viral Genetics board of directors.
- John Robb and R. Brooks Robey, medicine, were among 50 newly elected fellows of the American Heart Association in spring 2008 for their outstanding achievements and contributions to cardiovascular disease and stroke.

- Samuel Bakhoum, an MD/PhD student in Duane Compton's biochemistry lab, has won the American Society for Cell Biology's 2008 Norton B. Gilula Award, which provides expenses for an exceptional student each year to attend its annual meeting.
