Stevens, surg, presented a keynote address at the 25th anniversary celebration of King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, "To Visit or To Stay, That is the Question!" and the following at the 20th Annual Saudi Ophthalmological Society meeting in Riyadh, March 2-5: "The Open Globe: Evaluation and Management," "Acute Zonal Occult Outer Retinopathy-The Dartmouth Experience," "Retinopathy of Prematurity: Surgical Management of Stage 3, 4, and 5," and "Stereo Fluorescein Angiography."
- Shaun Wason, surg, is among 47 winners in the 2008 Seed Grant Research Program of the American Medical Association Foundation that awards support to encourage medical students, physician residents and fellows to conduct basic science, applied or clinical research projects.
3. STUDENTS
- Jennifer Bomberger, postdoc with Bruce Stanton, has been awarded the Ann Weinberg Research Fellowship from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Society for Experimental Biology Young Investigator award, to be presented at the 2008 Experimental Biology Meeting in San Diego, April 5-9.
- Winners of the 2007 E. Lucile Smith Biochemistry Awards for scientific scholarship and community service are: Vincent Starai, postdoc with Bill Wickner, for his work to resolve a controversy in membrane dynamics, and Amity Manning, grad student with Duane Compton, for her dedicated service to the program and her work on the mechanisms of spindle assembly during cell division.
