Welcome to the M.D.-Ph.D. Program at Dartmouth. Through these pages we hope you will discover some of the special qualities that Dartmouth offers as one of the finest academic medical institutions in the country.

Dartmouth has a long tradition of academic excellence and a reputation for especially close faculty/student interactions and a close sense of community that enriches the educational experience of our students. The opportunity to study in a close community, combined with hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings, allows for personal growth and inspired learning.

Along with courses in Dartmouth Medical School, students train in laboratories with many of the country's best scientists. Labs generally are restricted to ten or fewer students, allowing faculty to be accessible and provide close mentoring.

M.D.-Ph.D. students are also provided with mentoring resources at different levels of their academic careers. Mentors include members of the Dartmouth faculty who are physician-scientists as well as current students.

Among Dartmouth's unique qualities is diversity: true-dimensional diversity of its disciplines and of its students. Our students may earn their doctoral degrees from any of

the Ph.D. degree granting programs offered such as the Thayer School of Engineering, Computer Science (Computational Biology), the Evaluative Clinical Sciences, Psychological and Brain Sciences, Chemistry, as well as in the biological sciences, including Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Genetics, Microbiology/Immunology, Pharmacoloty/Toxicology, and Physiology, and the new Program in Experimental and Molecular Medicine.
