The Dartmouth Medical School was founded in 1797 by Nathan Smith and is the fourth oldest medical school in the country. Dartmouth is settled in the upper valley of the Connecticut River between the White Mountain range of New Hampshire and the Green Mountains of Vermont. Situated in a small New England town, Dartmouth has the advantage of a rural environment with the resources of an Ivy league institution and a world-class medical center.
