Road to your Ph.D.
General requirements for the Ph.D. degree include laboratory research rotations, successful completion of a series of core and elective courses, supervised teaching, participation in journal clubs and student research-in-progress presentations. Advancement to candidacy for the Ph.D. degree requires completion of a qualifying exam. The student's research culminates in the preparation of a written thesis followed by a public seminar and defense.
