Other Lectures
Since leaving the office of Surgeon General, Dr. Koop has continued to be a constant presence in American health care, participating in conferences and giving lectures on an ongoing basis. The Koop Institute sponsors a variety of these events both regionally and locally, helping Dr. Koop to share his substantial knowledge and insight into health issues with members of the community. Over the years, Dr. Koop has given his time in a number of local events at hospitals, medical schools, high schools, elementary schools, and colleges, including regular appearances on the Dartmouth College campus.
Located at Dartmouth Medical School, The Koop Institute
often seems somewhat removed from the goings on at Dartmouth College. However, through its undergraduate internship program, The Koop Institute has been able to provide Dartmouth undergraduates with a number of lectures, panel sessions, and "fireside chats" involving Dr. Koop. Many Dartmouth undergraduates are concerned with and interested in a variety of issues associated with the changing face of heath care, for many of them will someday be doctors, health officials, and health care recipients. Through the undergraduate lecture series, these students are able to gain invaluable knowledge and perspective on health care issues that will affect them directly in the future.
