The Art Of Healing
Lois Goglia, Healing Figures
Lois Goglia makes large constructions and sculptures with materials and methods associated with physicians - tapes, bandages, and x-rays that are cut, sutured, and stuck together. Her work however, features enough materials such as paint, canvas and inks to allow them to have them stand alone as healthy artworks which examine the human condition.
Constructions
The larger-than-life sized 'Healing Figure' constructions are an amalgamation of canvas fragments, inks, and oilsticks combined with oil x-rays, medical tapes, and suturing materials. They explore the relationship of the outer body to its inner parts.

Sculptures
The smaller sculptures probe this inner/outer correlation by examining the body's bones and organs. The sculptures evoke man's ills; the constructions metaphorically heal them by joining disparate canvas fragments into unified images.
