Graduate Medical Education at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) puts you in the midst of one of the top academic medical centers in the country, a health care system recognized nationally for its leadership and for the quality of its patient care. With more than 30 ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs, we offer a full range of graduate medical training in a region that leads the nation in providing quality health care.

The clinicians with whom you will do your GME training occupy the top ranks in their fields and hold faculty appointments at Dartmouth Medical School. The Dartmouth-Hitchcock system includes Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. We provide comprehensive medical care for 1.8 million people in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Residencies

Anesthesiology
A four-year residency program admitting up to four residents per year.

Dermatology
A three-year program admitting up to two residents per year.

Diagnostic Radiology
A four-year program admitting up to four residents per year.

Family Practice
A three-year program admitting up to four residents per year.

General Surgery
A five-year program admitting up to 12 residents per year.

Internal Medicine - Categorical Track
A three-year program admitting up to 15 residents per year.

Internal Medicine - Primary Care
A three-year program accepting four residents per year.

Leadership Preventive Medicine Residency
A two-year program combined with other Dartmouth-Hitchcock clinical residencies admitting up to 20 residents per year beginning in training year 2003.

Internal Medicine/Psychiatry
A five-year combined program.

Neurology
A three-year program admitting up to two residents per year.

Neurosurgery
A three-year program admitting up to two residents per year.

Obstetrics and Gynecology
A four-year program admitting up to four residents per year.

Orthopaedic Surgery
A five-year program admitting two residents per year.

Pathology
A four-year program admitting up to three residents per year.

Pediatrics
A three-year program admitting up to six residents per year.

Plastic Surgery
A two-year program admitting one resident per year.

Psychiatry/Adult
A four-year program admitting up to four residents per year.

Psychiatry/Child and Adolescent
A two-year program admitting up to two residents per year.

Urology
A four-year program admitting one fellow per year.

 

Fellowships

Addiction Psychiatry
A one-year fellowship admitting one fellow per year.

Cardiology
A three-year fellowship admitting up to three fellows per year.

Cardio-Vascular Interventional Radiology
Fellowships within the radiology department in angiography / interventional radiology and cross sectional imaging designed to supplement the resident experience.

Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology
A one-year fellowship admitting one fellow per year.

Critical Care Medicine (Anesthesiology)
A one-year fellowship program admitting up to three fellows per year.

Critical Care Medicine (Internal Medicine)
A two-year progam admitting up to three fellows per year.

Cross-Sectional Imaging
A one-year program admitting 1-2 fellows per year.

Forensic Psychiatry
A one-year fellowship in forensic psychiatry.

Gastroenterology
A three-year program admitting 1 fellow per year.

Geriatric Psychiatry
A one-year program admitting up to two fellows per year.

Hematology/Oncology
A three-year program admitting up to two fellows per year.

Infectious Disease
A two-year program admitting 1-2 fellows per year.

Neuropsychiatry
A one-year fellowship in clinical neuropsychiatry designed as a yearlong intensive clinical experience in the evaluation and management of psychiatric problems related to neurological disease.

Neonatology
A three-year program.

Pain Management Anesthesiology
A one-year program admitting up to two fellows per year.

Pulmonary Medicine
A three year program admitting one fellow per year.

Rheumatology
A two-year program admitting one fellow per year.

Spine
A two-year interdiscipilnary program admitting one fellow per year.

Vascular and Interventional Radiology
A one-year program admitting two fellows per year.

Vascular Surgery
A one-year program admitting one fellow per year.
