Scope and Definition of Translational Research

The DCCTS has adapted a balanced approach to fostering translational research, incorporating strengths within the entire Dartmouth community along the following areas of emphasis:

  1. Basic science and its translation into clinical research (T1)
  2. Patient-specific evidence of clinical effectiveness; practice guidelines; tools to allow for the right treatment of the right patient in the right way at the right time (T2)
  3. Reliable delivery of care to all patients, in all settings and to the population, based on measurement and accountability implementation and on system redesign (T3)

We envision an iterative process in which there is a bidirectional approach taken between each of these different types of translational research enterprises.
