Transition from Monopolar to Bipolar Spindle
Length: 6 seconds
Inhibition of the Eg5 motor with the compound monastrol induces monopolar spindle formation. However, these monopolar spindles can rapidly return to normal bipolar arrangement following washout of the monastrol. Note that the centrosome-associated asters separate first and then the kinetochore fibers are recruited to those sites. See Khodjakov et al., 2003.
