Patient advocacy is fundamental to our identity as academic faculty. Academic faculty are involved in a broad range of clinical and social issues important in the health of patients and have a unique opportunity to work for systematic change on their behalf. For many, advocacy and legislative advocacy in particular can be foreign and intimidating. You will learn how to integrate patient advocacy into your core mission as an academician, root your efforts in principles of equity and justice, and understand the role of advocacy at the legislative level.
