Hanover Terrace and Lebanon Center Genesis Eldercare
In addition to the CHC, family medicine patient care is delivered at local nursing homes and a continuing care retirement community. With the "aging" of the local and national population, the Family Practice section of the Department has branched out into the area of geriatrics.
The Department also has a significant presence in two other nursing homes in the Upper Valley: Hanover Terrace Healthcare (Julie Fago-Patterson, MD, Medical Director), and Lebanon Center Genesis Elder Care, (James Wendt, MD, Acting Medical Director). Hanover Terrace is a 100 bed care center that offers 24 hour skilled nursing, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, respite care, hospice services and Alzheimer1s care. Dr. Patterson, as well as the other physicians at the Community Health Center (CHC) regularly follow patients at the Hanover Terrace. Genesis is a similar long-term care facility, offering an equivalent range of services.
Both nursing homes are within a 10 minute drive of the medical center, and provide excellent learning environments for medical students and residents. Our faculty regularly participate in Geriatric Education programs in the community and head geriatric planning efforts at DHMC.
