The Goal:
To prepare medical students as leaders in providing medical care to rural and underserved populations.
The Program:
- Participate in monthly seminars:
- To introduce students to local leaders in rural health care and their work.
- To help students acquire more knowledge and understanding of rural medicine.
- To explore and develop students' interests and futures in rural medicine.
- To create connections between interested Dartmouth Medical School students, DMS faculty and community practitioners active in providing rural health care.
- Attend the annual meetings of the Dartmouth COOP Project and the National Rural Health Association (or other Rural Health related meetings).
- Design and complete a community project, which may be a part of your Longitudinal Clinical Experience or clerkship.
- Participate in field visits to rural practitioners.
