The NH-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency in Concord, NH
was established in 1994, and was the first Family Practice residency in
the State of New Hampshire. The program is based at Concord Hospital,
a 172 bed community-based hospital, offering a wide range of specialties
and services to the 117,000 people in its primary service area. Continuity
clinics take place at the Capital City Health Center, located on the Concord
Hospital campus. The state-supported Health Center accepts patients
from all socioeconomic backgrounds, and provides a full range of primary
care services, as well as specialized services in family planning, high
risk OB, STD/HIV clinics and developmental screening. Under the creative
leadership of Gail Sawyer, MD, the Concord Residency program offers residents an
opportunity to work in a solid community-based setting. Other features include:
- Emphasis on community-oriented primary care and community assessments
- Exposure to new electronic medical record and state of the art management information systems
- Emphasis on population-based care
- Individualized contacts with attending physicians throughout the Concord Hospital
