Reporting a Deficiency
Dartmouth College is committed to the judicious use of animals in research and teaching. The Dartmouth Animal Care and Use Policy outlines the details of this commitment. The policy is available from the Animal Resources Center (ARC). Everyone using animals in research and teaching at Dartmouth is obligated to follow the Dartmouth Animal Care and Use Policy. As required by law, there is a mechanism in place to report suspected deviations from the Policy.
Anyone believing that there has been a violation of the Policy should send a written report concerning the alleged violation to the Institutional Animal Care and Use
Committee (IACUC). Reports can be submitted through any individual member of the IACUC, the IACUC Chair, or the ARC Veterinarians*. IACUC member names are available through the ARC office or on the website. A report should be as specific as possible in describing the suspected deficiency. Those involved in investigating the concern will seek to maintain confidentiality of the source as much as is legally possible. Allegations of violations of the Policy will be reviewed by the IACUC.
No employee of Dartmouth College shall be discriminated against or be subject to any reprisal for reporting alleged violations of any Institutional Animal Care and Use Policies.
To report a perceived deficiency, please fill out the Concerns Document.
