1:30 - 4:00 pm Fifth Annual DMS Reunion CME Symposium

The graduates of Dartmouth Medical School are transforming medicine locally and globally. Hear about the work of several members of your alumni colleagues. Gain continuing medical education credits for your participation. See separate flyer for descriptions of the presentations.

1:00 - 4:00 pm An Afternoon at The Montshire Museum
Norwich, VT

Bring your children to this award-winning, interactive science museum-just across the Connecticut River in Norwich, VT. Visit the Bubble Room, insect exhibits, and natural history kiosks as well as the new Science Park and walking trails.

6:00 - 9:00 pm Welcome Reception
Dartmouth Outing Club

Hors d'oeuvres, beverages, music and a place to rendezvous with classmates. Partake of the ample hors d'oeuvres and pick up your registration packet for the weekend. Enjoy the view of Occum Pond as you listen to the musical stylistics of violinist Richard Parker and pianist Doug Southworth, both '85ers--formerly known as the Histones." Then spend the evening returning to your old Hanover haunts or visiting new downtown sites. A Canoe Club on Main Street? What is a Dirt Cowboy anyway? Don't forget the Nugget Theater-new and expanded! Hit Ben & Jerry's as you stroll through town.

Hanover Country Club

Organize a group of friends and play a round of golf at the Hanover Country Club. Rolling hills, long fairways and tricky greens await you at this course located close to campus. Please call us (603) 653-0741 by September 15 to reserve a tee time for Reunion Saturday.

9:30 - 10:15 am Coffee and Conversation with Dean Stephen Spielberg

Enjoy a continental breakfast and meet the dean of Dartmouth Medical School. Hear his goals and vision of academic medical education for our institution and its role in transforming medicine in the 21st century.

10:00 am - 5:00 pm Canoe the Connecticut or Hike the AP
Ledyard Canoe Club, Hanover

Launch from the Ledyard Canoe Club and view the glory of fall from the vantage of the Connecticut River. Canoes have been reserved for DMS alumni on Saturday and Sunday.

Holts Ledge Hike,
Lyme. NH
Hike this 2.2 mile (roundtrip) stretch of the Appalachian Trail with friends or family. Located in Lyme NH near the Dartmouth Skiway, Holts Ledge was one of the first in New Hampshire where peregrines were successfully reintroduced. Described in the Dartmouth Outing Guide as "a precipitous cliff with fine views to the east," "the cliff edge is fenced off not only to protect unaware hikers on foggy days, but also to protect the peregrine falcons who nest on the cliff."

12 noon - 4:00 p.m. Saturday Sojourns, Treks and Adventures

Enjoy the afternoon close to campus or venture out on one of the specially arranged excursions below. First, have lunch at the All Class Meeting and/or pick up a savory box lunch and directions to head out for an Upper Valley autumn afternoon outing in one of these nearby designated sites.

Don't miss a delicious cookout with your classmates and current medical students. All classes and families are invited. Meet Alumni Council President-Elect Oge Young, DMS '75. Cheer on the Classes of 1980, 1990, and 1995 as they present their Class Gifts to Dean Spielberg. Gather with friends for informal photos. After lunch enjoy a guided hike on one of the nearby trails or head off to other amusements and fun in the Upper Valley.

Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site
Cornish, New Hampshire

Enjoy a one-hour guided walking tour of the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site. The site consists of 150 acres including the home, gardens, and studios of Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848-1907), one of America's foremost sculptors. One of Saint-Gaudens' most famous works was the mural sculpture honoring the Massachusetts Fifty-fourth Volunteer Infantry of black soldiers and their commander, Colonel Robert Gould Shaw located in downtown Boston; one of the original stages of the mural is located at the site.

Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park/Billings Farm and Museum
Woodstock, Vermont

Explore these two historic centers just a few miles away. The Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park offers ranger-led walks and tours, including the Mansion and garden tours, art tours of the Hudson River School artists and a variety of other programs. Billings Farm and Museum, a working farm since 1871, engages visitors from toddlers to seniors, who can witness firsthand the history of and modern management of a New England Farm. Take the family on Saturday or Sunday. On Sunday, learn "All about Apples," a special activity day about this basic American fruit. Combined fee available for both places.

5:00-6:00 pm Archive Fever: A Digital Wonder Room by MANUAL
Cocktails and Museum Talk: Hood Museum

See this site-specific work of husband and wife digital artist team Ed Hill and Suzanne Bloom, collectively known as MANUAL. Commissioned on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Hood and derived entirely from the museum's collection, Archive Fever is a "complex array of animated images, sound, and textual material." Interim Hood Director, Katherine Hart, will give brief comments at 5:30.

6:30 pm Class Dinner - Classes 1955, 1960, 1965

Meet classmates for cocktails and dinner in the comfortable setting of Hayward Lounge. If you weren't available for one of the earlier class shots, please gather for the photos this evening to commemorate this special weekend.

Spend the evening rekindling old friendships. Share photos of med school years here at Dartmouth. Ask us to invite your favorite faculty to join the group. Don't forget to participate in your class's "official" reunion photo tonight.

Gather with your friends for dinner. "Table hop" to catch up on what's happened since your lab days in Remsen and living in Satchem Village! Don't forget to bring pictures! We'll also stage a class photo to send to you later.

Children will enjoy a special night out, too. Kathy Erickson will host an evening of fun and activity for our junior and teen alumni friends. Kathy, a local teacher, runs the Dartmouth College Junior Reunion programs. Jewelry making for girls and guys. Games for teens. Lifeguard-monitored fun swim time (Parental permission required.) Pizza, beverages, and healthy snacks for dinner, followed by age-appropriate videos for our younger and older sets. Also see information on baby-sitter service for infants and pre-school children.

After dinner, finally sit down with a close friend for a quiet talk. The Drake Room on the lower level will be set up as a late evening hospitality room with coffee, tea, and soft drinks.

10:00 am - 3:00 pm Canoe the Connecticut
Ledyard Canoe Club, Hanover

Time for one last activity? Savor the memories of reunion weekend in one final canoe ride. Canoes also have been reserved for DMS alumni. Don't forget the Montshire. A special program on September 25 at Billings Farms, presents "All About Apples." See pruning and grafting demonstrations. Apple tasting, apple trivia contest, cider pressing, scavenger hunts and more.

Lovely New Hampshire in the fall! For your convenience, we've made arrangements with the following Hanover-area inns and hotels. A number of rooms are blocked for our reunion weekend at these establishments and we will hold them as long as we can, but please make your reservation as soon as possible. As you may remember, late September is peak season in New England, so book now!
