Alumni Focus Dr. Oglesby Young DMS '75 New President of Alumni Council ![]() Dr. Oglesby Young "I like keeping in touch with DMS," says Dr. Oglesby "Oge" Young. And he does so in numerous ways. Since graduating from Dartmouth Medical School in 1975, Dr. Young has been helping to enrich education, scholarship, and faculty recruitment and development at DMS by making regular gifts to the Fund for Dartmouth Medical School. As an adjunct assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at DMS, Dr. Young trains the next generation of physicians and coordinates the DMS OB/GYN clerkship at Concord Hospital, where he has been practicing for the past 23 years. And as a member of the DMS Alumni Council, Dr. Young has been serving as a representative for the DMS alumni body and helping to bolster the relationship between the Medical School and its alumni. "One of the greatest benefits of being part of the Alumni Council," Dr. Young explains, "is meeting other DMS graduates. The members of the Council are a fascinating group of people who are interested in giving back. It's a joy to be part of a group like that." Recently, Dr. Young was elected president of the group, succeeding former Alumni Council President Dr. John West DMS '87. As president, Dr. Young's duties range from leading the biannual Council meetings to speaking at-and on occasion hosting-alumni functions. It's a demanding role for a physician whose schedule is already full with caring for patients, delivering babies, and teaching students, but Oge Young doesn't seem to mind. He says, "I like the contact I have with the school, getting to know Dean Spielberg, and watching DMS grow. Doing these things makes me feel more connected to the school and that's what matters most to me." |
