Dr. Freddie Fu DC '74, DMS '75 Joins DMS Board of Overseers

"I was taught by my family that you should always give back," says Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Freddie Fu (DC '74, DMS '75). And give back he does, in a variety of ways.

Dr. Fu, the David Silver Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, is an avid supporter of DMS through the Freddie H. Fu, M.D., DC '74, DMS'75 Outstanding Medical Student Award Endowment Fund in the Department of Orthopaedics. He created the fund because "I wanted to see students who are going into the field and doing a great job get rewarded properly."

In addition, Dr. Fu is a generous donor to the Fund for DMS, which provides the Medical School with unrestricted funds to support scholarship, faculty, facilities, curriculum development, classroom and lab technology, and more.

Now, Dr. Fu will support his alma mater by serving on the DMS Board of Overseers, effective September 1, 2005. Dr. Fu says, "This is a great way for me to learn more about DMS and its students, and to share my knowledge and insight for the benefit of the medical school."
