Conrad Kabali

I am a Fogarty trainee at the Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH), enrolled in a four year doctoral programme in Epidemiology. My area of interest is Infectious Diseases Epidemiology with a special focus on HIV/AIDS.

My life in the field of Epidemiology started in 1998 when I was employed for the first time by the Tanzania National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR). There, I had an opportunity to be involved in a number of epidemiological studies where I developed experience and interest in public health.

In 2000-2002, I joined the Limburgs University in Belgium for postgraduate studies and obtained MSc degrees in Applied Statistics and Biostatistics. I have been working with the Tanzanian National Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Programme since then before joining the Fogarty AITRP programme here at Boston University in September 2004.

I find the doctoral programme here at BUSPH to be interesting and relevant to my career. My long term goals are:

  • to train public health professionals and students on how to design, conduct, analyze and interpret epidemiological studies.
  • to provide technical support to the government and other institutions and organizations on a number of public health problems currently facing the developing world like HIV/AIDS
