Faculty
Dartmouth faculty members
are renowned not only for their
leadership in diverse facets
of medicine, but also for their personal
approach to teaching. They serve as your
instructors, role models, mentors, and
team-members in the clinic and in the lab.
They are vested in your success at school
and beyond and demonstrate their
commitment in many ways, whether it's
organizing a weekend review session or
inviting
you to their home for Thanksgiving
dinner. As one student says,"The professors
don't just have office hours from one
to three on a Friday afternoon. Their doors
are open all the time."
Developed by DMS's Drs. Leslie Fall and Norm Berman, the Computer-Assisted Learning in Pediatrics Project (CLIPP) is currently in use by approximately 70 percent of all medical students in the United States, with an average of 3,000-4,000 CLIPP cases completed each week. In 2005 and 2006, CLIPP received the "Innovation in Clinical Medical Student Education Award" from the Association of American Medical Colleges.
Second-year students in the "On Doctoring" course work with Dr. Joseph O'Donnell, Professor of Medicine, practicing their clinical skills."It's a phenomenal learning environment."
"The first- and second- year profs go out of their way to make sure
we're learning what we need to learn. And then when you get to the
hospitals and see them on the wards interacting with patients and
doing consults, it's even more inspiring."
