Student Resources:

American Medical Women's Association (AMWA): AMWA is a DMS chapter of a national organization for women in medicine. AMWA was originally formed when the AMA would not admit female members. AMWA sponsors numerous events throughout the year to raise awareness of women's health issues, and also provides networking and mentoring opportunities with women in medicine locally, regionally and nationally. Through its regional and national connections, AMWA also provides numerous resources and opportunities, including a nation-wide hosting program for residencies and job searches. Contact Coordinator.

Dartmouth International Health Group (DIHG): DIHG is a student interest group dedicated to all facets of international health and international health issues. They sponsor numerous lectures and activities throughout the year, and have some funds available for international health conferences and health care opportunities. Contact Coordinators.

Student National Medical Association (SNMA): SNMA is a DMS chapter of a national organization for medical students of color and allies, dedicated to national diversity issues and community service. SNMA sponsors a number of events and programs about diversity in the medical fields, and participates in both regional and national SNMA chapter meetings. Administrative Resources:

DHMC Women's Health Resource Center (WHRC)*: WHRC is responsible for disseminating notices and information about health topics of interest to women, including classes, conferences, support groups and resource materials. WHRC can be contacted at 650-HERS.

Office of Counseling and Human Development*: The Office of Counseling and Human Development at Dick's House provides a variety of student services, such as crisis intervention, evaluations, short-term counseling and recommendations for longer-term therapy. Counseling programs are provided on a strictly confidential basis in both one-to-one and group settings. African-American, Native American, Asian and Latino counselors are on staff and can be requested. Call Dick's House at 650-1442.

DMS Office of Multicultural Affairs*: The Office of Multicultural Affairs is responsible for minority, multicultural and diversity issues at DMS. The Office works on a wide variety of programs and topics from curricular concerns to student life issues. The overall goal is two-fold, to attempt to ensure the comfort and success of minority students at DMS, and to provide cultural references, programs and contacts for the educational benefit of all students. Office of Student Affairs*: In addition to sharing general responsibilities with the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Office of Student Affairs can be of specific assistance with international student issues and students with disabilities.
