Student Resources and Affinity Groups:

AfriCaSo*: AfriCaSo is the African and Caribbean Students' Organization at Dartmouth. Its main aim is to increase awareness of issues pertinent to Africa and the Caribbean.

Afro-American Society (AAm)*: The Afro-American Society is a student-run organization that aims to meet the academic, social, and cultural needs of Black students at Dartmouth. Although the AAm's events are primarily focused on the Black community, all students are encouraged to participate in its meetings and activities. Dartmouth Asian Organization (DAO)*: DAO is a cultural and social organization for students who are of Asian background or who are interested in Asian cultures. The Organization serves as a center for social and intellectual interaction between Asian-American and Asian students and works to promote the understanding and appreciation of all Asian cultures.

Dartmouth China Society (DCCS)*: DCCS is a student-run organization that provides a social and intellectual venue for students and other members of the community who share an interest in Chinese language and culture. Events include movie and mahjong nights, professor-led discussions and celebration of Chinese New Year. For more information, go to http://www.dartmouth.edu/~dchinese.

Dartmouth Japan Society (DJS)*: DJS is a student-run organization dedicated to the promotion of Japanese culture on campus. DJS is open to all interested members of the Dartmouth community.

Dartmouth Rainbow Alliance*: DRA is Dartmouth's lesbian, gay, and bisexual student organization. On a weekly basis, DRA holds women's and men's support meetings, as well as co-ed business meetings. Gay-Straight Alliance: The Gay Straight Alliance was formed in Spring 1999 by a group of students interested in allying the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight communities of Dartmouth College. Their mission is to serve as a bridge between the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight communities of Dartmouth College; provide a constructive forum where members of the community express themselves without binding claim to sexual or affectational orientation; work together in order to increase understanding and acceptance of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons. http://www.dartmouth.edu/~gsa/.

Green Lambda: Green Lambda is a graduate student group that formed in 1998 to provide a safe space for graduate students. Green Lambda has co-sponsored GLBT events and activities on campus as well as with community organizations.

Hokupa'a: Hokupa'a is a student organization dedicated to supporting Native Hawaiian students on campus and to raising awareness regarding issues affecting Hawaiians and the Hawaiian homeland. For more information, blitz Hokupaa.

International Student Organization (ISA)*: The ISA features events, speakers and cultural nights related to international students and affairs. Send mail to Hinman Box 5048.

Korean-American Students Association (KASA)*: KASA is a student-run organization that aims to meet the academic, social and cultural needs of Korean students. Although KASA's events are primarily focused on the Korean student community, all students are encouraged to participate in its activities and meetings.

La Alianza Latina*: La Alianza Latina is a student organization whose goal is to support and empower Latino/Hispanic students at Dartmouth and to provide a forum for the advocacy of Latino issues. La Alianza addresses on-campus and nationwide political issues of Latinos and other cultural/affinity groups and has also become a strong sponsor of educational, cultural and social events. HB 5063.

La Unidad Latino/Lambda Upsilon Lambda*: LUL is a community-service based fraternity based on a strong tradition of community outreach and Latino pride. Numerous events are sponsored throughout the year and are open to the Dartmouth community as well as people living in the Upper Valley. 646-7351.

Milan -- South Asian Students*: Milan is a student-run organization committed to the celebration of South Asian peoples and cultures. Although Milan's events are focused primarily on students of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepalese and Sri Lankan descent, all students are encouraged to participate in its activities and meetings.

MOSIAC*: MOSAIC is a student organization whose goal is to provide a supportive forum for individuals who are from biracial, bicultural, multi-racial or multicultural backgrounds. The organization sponsors events, films and discussions in addition to weekly meetings around issues, local and national, affecting people of multicultural backgrounds.

Moveimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (M.E.Ch.A.)*: MEChA was founded to provide cultural and social support to Mexican-American and Chicano/a students. The organization attempts to create awareness within the Latino community and the larger Dartmouth about the traditions, music and history of students of Mexican descent. HB 5035

Native Americans at Dartmouth (NAD)*: NAD is a student-run organization designed to meet the social, cultural and educational needs of Native American, Native Hawaiian and Native Alaskan students campus-wide. NAD sponsors the Dartmouth Powwow each year, and the Native American House is an affiliated social and residential structure on campus.

Sexual Abuse Peer Advisors (SAPA)*: The Sexual Abuse Peer Advisors (SAPAs) are students who have been trained by the coordinator of the Sexual Abuse Awareness Program, and are available to discuss sexual abuse issues with any Dartmouth student. SAPA's bulletin contains information on each advisor, who can be contacted by phone or blitz.

Vietnamese/Southeast Asian Student Association (VSA/SEA)*: VSA/SEA is a student-run organization to address the social, cultural and academic needs of Vietnamese and Southeast Asian students, and to celebrate Southeast Asian cultures.

Administrative Resources:

Advisor to Latino/Hispanic Students*: The Advisor to Latino-Hispanic students is responsible for developing a program that promotes the academic and professional competitiveness of Latino/Hispanic students. Contact Alexander B. Hernandez-Siegal, Advisor, or Michele McDonald at 646-1102.

Center for Women and Gender (CWG)*: The CWG helps to sponsor meetings, lectures, performances and other events of interest to women in the Dartmouth community, and works on gender issues and concerns campus-wide. Contact the CWG at 646-3456.

College Chaplaincy Office: The College Chaplain is always happy to meet with students over areas of concern, and to offer counseling in whatever way possible. Call 646-3359 for more information.

Coordinator of Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Programming (GLB)*: The Coordinator of Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Programming at Dartmouth works with the GLB community and allies (friends, families, loved ones) on all areas of concern to the GLB community. Contact Pam Misener, 646-3635, HB 6181.

International Office*: The international office serves all members of the international community at Dartmouth, and provides information to all members of the Dartmouth community on internationally-focused events and happenings on campus. Contact the International Office at 646-3474.

Interracial Concerns Committee (ICC)*: The ICC strives to promote discussion of issues on diversity in the Dartmouth Community. The ICC helps to sponsor and advertise events that promote a greater awareness of different cultures, races and sexual orientations.

Native American Program (NAP)*: The NAP works with American Indian, Native Alaskan and Native Hawaiian students on all areas of concern, academically, socially and culturally. The office also provides information to the campus community on events and issues affecting the Native American community. Office of Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity (AA/EO)*: The AA/EO office oversees the implementation of all Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity policies and procedures and can provide information thereon. The office also handles discrimination complaints. Diversity training workshops and Diversity Reading Groups are also coordinated through the office. They can be reached at 646-3197, HB 6018.

Roth Center for Jewish Life*: The Roth Center for Jewish Life provides information on events and issues of interest to the Jewish community at Dartmouth, including holidays, events and programs. Contact Rabbi Edward Boraz at 646-0410 or HB 6153.

Sexual Abuse Awareness Program (SAAP): The Sexual Abuse Awareness Program is a resource for all victims of sexual abuse. They can be contacted any time at 650-1430.

Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment Committee*: The Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment committee assists with the educational efforts on campus and recommends policy reviews and changes on related topics to the Provost and the Dean of the College. Information is available on policy changes, clarifications and announcements, as well as information on educational programs and tips on combating sexual assault and sexual harassment.
