Arts and Publications Arts Groups: The Black Underground Theater and Arts Association (BUTA): BUTA is a student-theater group that is devoted to performing plays that explore Afro-American history and culture. As a part of the AAm, BUTA usually holds auditions in the beginning of each undergraduate academic term. Please contact AAm for more information. DMS Gumboot Dancers: This group performs the traditional gumboot dances of South African miners. They perform several times a year at DMS and College functions. All are welcome and no experience is necessary. Contact the Student Affairs Office, 650-1509 for more information. Main Street: Main Street is a publication for the entire campus published by representatives of the Asian, Asian-American and Pacific American communities at Dartmouth. HB 6135. Nuestras Voces: Nuestras Voces is a performance group formed to bring a Latino/Hispanic presence and experience to the stages and public spaces of Dartmouth College -- feeling that professional and amateur Latino/Hispanic plays, poetry, prose, etc., has been excluded from other performance venues. Contact Alex Hernandez, 646-1102. Roots of Rhythm: Roots of Rhythm is the cultural group of AfriCaSo. They are dedicated to bringing cultural enlightenment to Dartmouth by entertainment and sharing what they know. Contact africaso-info@mac. Ujima: Ujima, named for one of the seven Kwanzaa principles, is a student-run dance troop which focuses on expression through movement. An umbrella organization of AAm, Ujima includes both professional and untrained dancers. Its repertoire includes modern dance, jazz, African and ballet. Contact Farrah Russell or Mikisha Brown for more information. The Untamed Shrews: The Untamed Shrews are a collaborative women's performance group. The shows are collections of excerpts from plays, essays, short stories and prose written by women of varied racial, ethnic, socio-economic, religious and national backgrounds.
