Year 3/4 Student Information
Scheduling Summary
YEAR 3 SCHEDULING
What you should not do -
- Do not try to schedule third year clerkships at non-Dartmouth sites (exception is military scholarship students as allowed by clerkship)
What you should do -
- Think about the order you want to do clerkships
- Think about the sites you prefer
- Remember the diversity expectation
- Learn about the lottery process
- Remember that you have July, Aug, Sept of your fourth year to take a subinternship or electives that may help make career decisions, or help improve your record in an intended specialty, and still get the evaluation into your Dean's letter
- Remember to keep your Student Passport up to date
- Remember military and Maine FAME requirements if applicable
- Remember that some specialties have an early match (eye, GU, ENT, neuro, neurosurgery)
- Remember that all the clerkships offer excellent training, and that in the end you will have all had comparable experiences. There is no worst case scenario.
- HAVE FUN AND LEARN A LOT!
